I also enjoy cappuccinos, but after giving up dairy, I haven’t been able to have one… until I came across this ‘Bulletproof Coffee’ goodness. Have you heard of the unicorn of the latte world? Buckle up, we’re about to dive in!

That’s what I’m here for–to help you hack your morning cup ‘o joe EASY and rev up your home brewed coffee by making it ‘Bulletproof’!

Bulletproof Coffee: Why You NEED it:
Now, I didn’t come up with this or name it bulletproof, but I did decide to make some easier way that I won’t need to dirty a whole bunch of measuring devices and get a bunch of things out in the morning while I’m a zombie, pre-coffee.
Before we get into the recipe, here’s some important facts about bulletproofing your coffee:
- The premise of this Bulletproof Coffee is to get a good dose of healthy fats from unsalted butter from grass-fed cows and then also from the added MCT (Medium Chain Triglycerides) oil. If you don’t want to track down MCT oil, you can use Coconut oil. (read about the difference between the two, here)
- Using grass-fed butter is key! (I used ghee which I made from Kerrygold Unsalted Butter, Read more about making your own ghee here)
- Use cold pressed, unrefined coconut oil!
- Use your favorite coffee/tea prepped in your favorite way. YES! You can use tea too, check out my favorite teas by Total Tea and use my code SydneyD for a special discount!
“[Pre-workout] consider using a healthy source of fat: Medium Chain Triglycerides (MCTs). The benefits are numerous, and especially advantageous for those looking to increase fat oxidation during the workout. This study, published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, showed that consumption of MCTs as part of a weight loss plan improved overall weight loss. After ingestion of MCTs, the free fatty acid levels are raised, and more available to be used as energy. Supplementing with MCTs pre workout is therefore a terrific option for those on low carbohydrate diets looking for pre-workout energy and increased fat loss. You can get your MCTs in via coconut oil, MCT oil supplements, or even quality coconut milk products. Add in a small amount of BCAAs or whey protein, and caffeine for a boost that will keep you fueled up while aiding you in staying lean.
Who doesn’t want help waking up in the morning as well as getting rid of some of that extra fat they have?! Drink your yummy bulletproof coffee on the way to work out for the best pre-workout of all times!
Now, let’s get down into what you need and how you need to prep your bulletproof beverage! (Scroll ALL the way down for all the bulletproof coffee necessity products, easily amazon-shoppable for you!)
Bulletproof Coffee Pods

- 1/4 Cup Coconut Oil
- 1/4 Cup MCT Oil
- 1/4 Cup Ghee
- 1/2 tsp Cinnamon (optional)
- 1/4 tsp Madagascar Vanilla Extract (optional)
- Pinch of Pink Himalayan Salt (optional)
- Step 1
- Melt and blend all ingredients together.
- Step 2
- Place mold on a baking tray. Pour melted ingredients into mold. Fill mold 3/4 of the way to the brim.
- Step 3
- Freeze 1 Hour or until solidified.
- Step 4
- Pop out of mold and store in the freezer until ready for use.
- Step 5
- Use 1-2 pods per 8 ounces of coffee.
Let me walk you through how I make my coffee in the morning..
Step 1: Stumble and grumble out to the Nespresso machine. I have a drawer full of Nespresso Vertuoline pods that I have MADE MYSELF (yes you read that right! Want more details? Head to The Dynamic Life Collective where I’ll be sharing how I did that very soon.). Pop a Regular coffee pod into the machine and brew directly into my Ninja Blender cup.
Step 2: While the coffee maker is working it’s magic, I dump 3/4 scoop of collagen in the blender cup, and 1-2 bulletproof coffee pods in the blender cup as well.

amazing benefits! Think: longer lashes, healthy hair/skin/nails, AND it has protein in it allowing some appetite suppression benefits. Perfect for me since some mornings I am up before 5am but can’t actually hold down a meal til 9ish.

Step 3: After coffee pod is done brewing, I also brew an espresso pod. Because Red Eyes are life (aka Starbucks lingo for drip coffee + 1 shot espresso).

Step 4: Put lid on blender cup then turn upside down OVER THE SINK. Ya’ll… I have made too many messes with a blender cup that wasn’t all the way screwed on. Learn from my mistakes!
Step 5: Blend until coffee concoction has achieved a gorgeous caramel color. Pour into to-go mug or coffee mug of choice and enjoy!
